Swedish artists, Whirl, returns to Steyoyoke Black to take part in the project Steyoyoke Black Reconstructed – a chance for our artists to remix two older tracks in the catalogue. The duo takes charge by delivering two exquisite reworks of pieces, proving to be more than capable of fulfilling the challenge.

The first remix of Nick Devon’s ‘Sithian’, is a dynamic piece, complementing the intensity of the original with additional melodic elements that open up the soundscape to make for a vibrant, compelling track. ‘Maze’ on the other hand, a remix of the original by Lost Soul, takes us to a darker space with a deep, echoing melody and a refrain that is pared back to its essential parts.

Whirl does a great job of showing their versatility across only two tracks, making this skillful EP an impressive success.
